Iran Reports Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have shot down missiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard said in a statement it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the government.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.

It said wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
