Political Developments and International Reactions

An ex- American diplomat, a foreign policy expert, commented, "Putin is trying to derail the momentum toward greater sanctions on Russia." Fried continued, "We'll see tomorrow, but the likelihood of moving toward a truce by pushing Russia to engage sincerely appear to have diminished."

The development followed the US president had in recent days been hardening his language toward Russia until Thursday's conversation with the Russian president, which the Russian government described as "highly open and trustful."

EU Energy Sanctions and Market Effects

EU authorities have set a requirement for fuel importers into the EU to demonstrate their products are not sourced from Russian oil, as stated in a document released on recently. This step is included in the EU's forthcoming prohibition on imports of fuels made from Russian petroleum, which forms part of its 18th sanctions package against Moscow over its war in the region.

Market analysts noted that investment activity appeared to be considering the possible reduction of India's imports of Russian crude. Some Indian refiners are getting ready to cut Russian oil imports, with projections of a gradual reduction, according to insiders knowledgeable about the matter.

"This represents a positive development for the crude oil price as it would remove a major buyer of Russian oil," commented a market analyst, adding that crude values were stable on Thursday.

Military Developments and Infrastructure Strikes

A large-scale Moscow's drone and missile attack targeted gas facilities in Ukraine's eastern regions on Thursday, resulting in outages in multiple regions. Ukrainian officials reported that Russian forces deployed numerous of unmanned vehicles and dozens of missiles, along with glide bombs.

"This autumn, the Russians use every single day to attack at our power facilities," declared Ukraine's president, adding that strikes affected the areas of Chernihiv, eastern Ukraine, central Ukraine, northeastern Ukraine and Vinnytsia.

Global Diplomatic Reactions
